Suffer in silence

                                                      Suffer in silence

No one likes to suffer. So why are so many people displaying signs of suffering such as stress, anger, and regret are the common emotions that any of us may on a daily basis. As much as we try to avoid them, we always end up bringing the negative feelings. We create suffering accepting the reality.

For example we say things like “it’s not fair”, “why me?”, and “this shouldn’t have happened". Normally, this instinct is protective but in this case of pain, it backfires. We might avoid our pain or pretend it isn’t present. We might ruminate about our suffering and we might turn to substances to forget the pain.
But suffering is a natural part of life. Everyone suffers. Even animals suffer.Without suffering, life would be very bland. Everything would be just one way, nice. No variation. When suffering ends we feel the weight lift and our burdens ease.I like to think of every event as a lesson, or exercise of some sort. I used to say suffering gives you twice as much experience: once when you immediately react, and a second dose of learning when you reflect on it when the suffering ends. Did you figure out how to avoid the suffering?
Honestly, pain is completely necessary. I empathize with the downtrodden because I used to be bullied, and from that I can realize all forms of harassment should be addressed, even if I don't experience it. Sexism and racism are not problems I face, but my suffering in being disrespected gives me something to relate those issues to, and to decide I wouldn't appreciate them happening to me.
If it were not for suffering, we wouldn't know what enjoyment was. Suffering doesn't have any meaning until you put it into the greater context of your life experience. One can decide to give in or get up in the face of suffering. Without tests of strength and resolve, we would never get the chance to grow.  So you could say suffering facilitates growth, but really it's just a part of life.
